PowerScribe One opens on the Explorer screen. When you start, reports may not immediately appear for review. Use a worklist, queue, or search filters to locate reports that require editing.
The editor workflow includes searching for a report, opening it for editing, correcting the content, and finishing the report.
Note
Reports do not appear in the Pending Correction queue until you open a report, make edits, and close it to continue later.
Follow these best practices to ensure accurate and efficient report editing.
Step 1: Search for a report
Editors typically work on reports assigned by department, modality, or site. Administrators can create worklists to route specific report types to editors, helping streamline the editing process.
Examples of worklists include:
- Reports sent for editing from a specific site.
- Reports sent for editing by a specific department, such as cardiology.
Learn more about searching for reports using worklist or search filters.
Search results
After you search using a worklist, queue, or browse option, matching reports appear in the results grid. The results grid displays all reports available in your selected or subscribed worklists. Select the appropriate queues to view relevant reports.
Available queues include:
- Pending Correction: Displays reports you opened and closed without finishing. These reports are waiting for you to complete.
- Drafts: Displays reports you started on behalf of a provider, if required by your facility. Draft reports cannot be an addendum.
- Recent: Displays reports you corrected within the last 12 hours.
Step 2: Open the report
Open a report only when you are ready to correct and finish it. This helps improve efficiency and reduce turnaround time (TAT).
To open a report:
- Double-click the report in the results list, or
- Select the report and choose Open, or
- Select the checkbox next to the report and choose Open.
If you begin editing a report and decide to finish later, close the report. It remains available in your Drafts queue, where only you can reopen and complete it.
Step 3: Edit the report
When you open a report from the Explorer screen, it opens in the Report Editor, where you correct the report and add related information as needed. Learn about the important sections of the Report Editor screen.
While reviewing the dictated audio and speech-recognized text, make edits as required.
Play report audio
Use a foot pedal, keyboard, or mouse to control audio playback. Many editors use a foot pedal to play, rewind, and fast-forward audio.
To play audio using a foot pedal:
- Press the middle pedal button to play.
- Release the pedal when you reach text that requires correction.
Select text to replace
Important
Do not delete the entire report and retype it.
Select only the text that needs correction:
Use your keyboard or mouse to select text.
Use keyboard shortcuts to quickly select words or paragraphs:
- Ctrl+Shift+Right Arrow: Selects the next word.
- Ctrl+Shift+Left Arrow: Selects the previous word.
- Ctrl+Shift+Down Arrow: Selects text from the cursor to the end of the paragraph.
- Ctrl+Shift+Up Arrow: Selects text from the cursor to the beginning of the paragraph.
Replace or insert text
After selecting text, type to replace it, or place the cursor where you want to insert content and begin typing. You can also insert AutoText.
AutoText contains predefined text for commonly used findings and results. Learn more about AutoText basics including creation, editing, and insertion.
Step 4: Finish the report
When editing is complete, select Finish on the toolbar, or Prelim + Finish, depending on your system configuration.
- If prompted, confirm that you want to finish the report.
- If prompted for a password, reenter it and select OK.
After finishing, PowerScribe One returns you to the Explorer screen, where you can select another report to edit.
